31st Apr 2013-This year parishioners of St. Anthony’s church gathered to celebrate the Easter Vigil on April 31st at 8pm and ended late at night. It is to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord. This Easter Vigil celebration consists of four important parts which are;

 i) The service of light,

 ii) The liturgy of the Word,

 iii) Christian Initiation and the renewal of Baptismal vow as well as

 iv) The Holy Eucharist.

The Vigil started with the blessing of the Paschal candle and lighting it up with the kindled Easter fire at the entrance of the church.

The Liturgy of the Word was read in all three languages which consist of five readings from Old Testament moving to the New Testament. Rev. Terrance gave his homily in English and Tamil while Rev. Lukas, who is from Flores, Indonesia, gave the sermon in Bahasa Malaysia. The essence of the sermon was to realise that the time of reflection and penance done throughout Lent, represents the 40 days that Jesus spent alone, surviving various temptations by the devil. Through his death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty for our sin, thus purchasing for all who believe in him, eternal life.

Both priests subsequently proceeded to bestow the sacrament of Baptism and Confirmation to the elected RCIA candidates and the sanctuary was overcrowded with parishioners, catechumens, children and their god-parents. For the RCIA coordinators, this was a joyful moment as they had looked forward to this moment in their journey with the catechumens. They are also grateful for the support of the parish priest and leaders of the church. It was indeed a happy moment to welcome 30 new members of the church.

At the end of the celebration our parish youths gave out decorative candles as a souvenir for everyone, which brings the meaning of Christ being the Light of the world.
